Hopefully something helps you find a solution. Google will find pages that have exact text matching what you put in quotes first, and use whatever is outside of the quotes as a secondary search to get the results you're looking for. You said you get a lot of VX Ace crash help pages, but try putting RPG Maker MV in quotes when asking Google for help like: "RPG Maker MV" crashes. I see you already tried with limited success. If nothing here has helped or the problem still persists, I guess we're pretty much left to scour Google to find an answer.
Given the vast amount of edits and modifications one can make to the core system, I suspect the issue stems from that.
I have seen posts about crashing here and there but I'm not exactly sure what the common theme among them are. If not, try introducing each item one by one to see which might be causing the issue. Remove those and place them elsewhere for the time being, reinstall fresh and see if the problem still persists.
So any scripts or editor mods will likely still be in the install directory. That said, Steam will leave behind any files in the game directory that it didn't directly install. If you have it through Steam and uninstall it there, that works fine too. Can you think of anything that you may have changed on your computer that correlates around the time you started experiencing these issues?Īlso.what are the nature of the crashes? Does it just crash straight to desktop without any message? If you do get a message, what does it say exactly? Do all the crashes happen in the same way? Any other issues you may be noticing on your computer around the same time you started experiencing these crashes?Īh right, sorry I forgot you can get it through Steam as well. I'm not entirely familiar with stability problems with this particular program but generally when something that was working suddenly stops working, it usually points to a change made to the program in some way or a change to something the program uses externally, like a driver.
Also, after you uninstall, make sure to reboot your computer just to make certain it clears out any left over data.
Just to be sure, you're going through Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstalling it there? If so, make sure the directory you had it installed in is free of any scripts or anything else you may have downloaded and try reinstalling again. (File > Open works, until I try to actually open something.) Downloading opengl32.dll (as suggested by some old thread somewhere on the internet) and placing it in MV's folder made the problem worse and resulted in nothing but a white screen when I started it up. The game now also crashes when I hover over the icon to open a project.
I have no idea what caused the problem, and I'm running out of ideas how to fix it. I also restarted my whole computer.Īs far as I can tell it was working fine yesterday. I've done both to no avail, except apparently my attempt at making a new project succeeded just enough that it doesn't recognize my existing project as being the latest thing edited.
Google keeps thinking I want help for VX Ace crashes, but I've been able to learn that driver updates and reinstalls are both potential fixes.
